QA Supervisor
The QA Supervisors leads and supervises QA technicians to ensure all products are prepared and packaged according to customer and company quality requirements. The successful candidate will bring leadership, support, and guidance to all areas in support of product quality. This position will ensure continuous compliance with good manufacturing practices within the facility.
Essential Functions
- Expected to spend a minimum 50% of shift on the production floor.
- Operate within SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Ensures corrective actions are being taken on issues related to food safety, GMP’s, and quality
- As directed, conduct periodic reviews of existing QA policies and procedures to ensure that they are effective and up to date
- Ensure that the company food safety and quality guidelines are well implemented daily
- Assume a leadership role to improve process repeatability on the production floor
- Coordinate and carry out required environmental swabbing and trend analysis
- Conducts training assessment and verification for product and/or process changes for production
- Develop, coordinate, and direct all quality functions to reduce and/or eliminate product quality failures on the production floor
- Reports all food safety related maintenance issues to Maintenance and QA Manager/Director Tech Services in a timely manner
- Accompanies third party auditors, customers, regulatory agencies on plant visits and inspections
- Enforce the cleanliness and operational sanitation of the processing plant
- Support / Lead special QA projects as needed
- Ensure production startups, shut downs and change overs meet the requirements of SOP's
- Maintain the communication between the production team, and QA team
Customer Specific
- Assist in the internal auditing program to ensure that deficiencies are corrected properly.
- Completes and responds to customer audit questionnaires and requests for documentation
- Enforce the quality specifications for each product through the quality technicians. These will then be entered and trended in the computer.
- Perform product failure trend analysis and implement corrective actions.
Education / Skills / Experience
- Prefer a Bachelor’s Degree in a Food, Animal, or Life Sciences program.
- A minimum of 5 years of food industry experience in the areas of Quality Assurance, and/or Technical Services. Experience in a USDA facility is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Must have knowledge and functional training or experience with general manufacturing processes, SOP’s, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP, BRC), Quality Control functions, basic HACCP/food safety requirements, Plant Sanitation processes, and Laboratory equipment and techniques
- Strong communication, analytical, and statistical abilities
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
